Hercules Balmoral…

August 5, 2010

Hercules Balmoral & Vintage Dress -

The rain finally stopped, so we could take a little bike ride around our neighborhood, nothing to long as I’m still not that great on a bike (my balance and clumsy – ness are the main issues, I am improving though) but this time we combined our bike ride and outfit photos.

I think this dress even though it has a crazy pattern all over it some how matches my bike, the dark green colour features as one of the many colours in the print. I think this colour pallet will be my new fall winter colours. I love how there dark but bright, if you get what I mean?

I picked this up on my vintage thrift store hunt with Claire the other day. She was quite restrained and only brought one dress where as I brought two dresses and a skirt, I couldn’t help it they were on sale! The other dress will have to wait till I’m in a beach or filed like location to show it off. It’s so pretty and worth the wait!! The skirt I will show as soon as I’ve shortened it.

So this is my vintage Hercules Balmoral bike I got in Camden Markets a while back (its from around 1948, pretty old). I plan to get a basket but have been buying dresses instead oops! I will correct this as I think I may use my bike in my up coming styling shoot – which I have SO MANY ideas for!! Zara are canalling my 70′s styling ideas but they had a mixed trend with 70′s esque pieces combined with old english heritage chic. But so many piece I wanted for my self and the shoot!

What I’m Wearing -

Dress – Vintage

Tights – Marks & Spencer

Rucksack – Topshop

Shoes – River Island

I love my new dress and it’s crazy print, I’m really pleased with how well these photos came out. I mean I often like my outfit posts but I get most excited about the location ones, either in the ware house or at a park or this flower graffiti wall, which I’ll defiantly be revisiting. I think the locations are as important as the outfit! Do you ever get the feeling of feeling very vintage in some outfits? Well today I felt very vintage, with my vintage dress and bike. I love days like this, I always like to add a vintage element into every outfit be it with a scarf, bag or a broach. I think it’s nice to have that little touch and if I can’t I try to buy vintage inspired clothing and accessories, this is very important to me. Not sure why but I’m drawn to that look more than say brand new shiny items. I love it when you can find a pretty dress for so cheap and it fit so well, also knowing the odds of someone else having the same are very slim to non!

Thanks, yes I love my bike even if I’m not the best on it but I’m improving. I even went on the road, I sound like a child but it was scary and fun at the same time!
